You are working in an organization, living in an apartment, teaching in a school or a parent in a house. You see water being wasted around you. The World Water Day is round the corner – You wish you could engage your community, your fellow employees and children on water – Highlight the urgency of the issue and spread the word on what we could do in our homes, apartments and as a society at large.
What do we offer?
Over the last four weeks, we have been running the Catch Every Drop campaign, together with Arghyam, India Water Portal and Biome Environment Services, to engage citizens on the topic of water conservation. In the process, we have put together awareness posters, everyday tips, trivia, and data about water and the city.
On the eve of this World Water Day (22nd March), we share with you all the resources that we have put together towards water conservation. This includes awareness posters and everyday tips, quiz questions and the collaterals we used for our photo contest – write ups, posters etc. We have also included posters and a note on the wide range of events that we have planned for World Water day.
You can download the whole package here. Alternately, you can view our posts on the everyday tips, awareness posters and the photo contests briefs.
What can you do?
Inform – You could share posters and memes online or in print to raise awareness and share everyday best practices. Do browse through our articles from the Catch Every Drop campaign to share water conservation efforts of citizens in their apartments, communities and around lakes.
Engage - Get some action on the floor and organize a quiz on Water conservation or run a photo contest on water conservation. Everyone loves winning and here everyone wins! If you have implemented water conservation initiatives such as Rain Water Harvesting or Sewage Water Treatment in your premises, organize a guided tour of water conservation practices implemented and share the efforts and benefits of these initiatives. Do this for both the kids and adults in your community.
Attend – We encourage everyone to attend the events organized across Bangalore on 22nd & 23rd March. Visit the Apartment open houses to learn, engage with peers who have implemented Rain water harvesting. Visit a lake in your locality. Take pictures, clean up a patch to host a carnival, have a picnic or meet as a community to see what we could do to save the lake.
Implement – Share statistics of water consumed / bought everyday for you would be surprised how we spend our days unaware of the amount of water we consume. Can you set a goal, as a community, household or organization, to reduce your water consumption? If you haven’t done so yet, these months before the monsoon are the best time to initiate an audit to implement rain water harvesting and sewage water treatment in your premises. You may want to step out and discover a lake that is in your neighbourhood in need of attention, and an existing community that is already working on it.
We would love to hear from you on what you are planning / what you did this World Water Day. Send us your World Water Day experiences and pictures and ideas around water conservation to editor@thealternative.in & be featured as part of the campaign.
